Stonehouse Farm is located in the Brecks, South Norfolk. We are an extensively managed, mixed livestock farm producing high genetic merit breeding animals.
We run 2000 breeding sheep, including 500 pedigree and performance recorded Lleyns. We continue to develop our own cross-bred shedding flock based on Lleyn and Exlana breeding, and also have a growing flock of Hebrideans.
We have 55 performance recorded Stabiliser suckler cows all put to a pure bull. Our herd outwinter on fodder beet still in the ground thanks to our sandy soils. The herd are an important part of grazing management across the enterprise.
Although no longer certified, we have practised organically for more than 20 years, working across more than 2500 acres of land. The key to our business is maximising the value and output of the animals as they are run on some of the poorest land in the country, the Brecks. The majority of this in an agri-environmental scheme of some sort.
We're a family run business with Richard, Sue, Emily, Katie, Bob and Claire all very involved.
In addition to the family farm, we have an independent store lamb business buying in and fattening around 4000 lambs each winter, most of which are produced by ourselves or one other major producer in the area.
